Roots n’ Boots fans, mark your calendars! The weekly show that blurs the line between rock and country will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a series of announcements and events in the next few weeks. First up will be our 10th Anniversary Special, which will air Sunday, April 20th from 5-8pm. It’ll be the perfect warm-up for the Robert Plant/Allison Krauss show at the Palace. We’ll celebrate the genre with many names (Americana, Alt-Country, Insurgent Country, Roots Rock, Country Rock, and just plain Country) with a retrospective show featuring the best Americana albums of the past 10 years as chosen by me AND YOU. Our first show aired in April 1998, so I’ll accept nominations of Americana albums from 1997 to the present. I want your help in choosing the playlist for this milestone program. Send your list of Top 5 Roots n’ Boots albums of the past 10 years to myoung@wfpk.org and yours could be read on the air during our 10th Anniversary Special on April 20th. You’ll also be eligible for prizes (more on that later). And stay tuned to WFPK’s Roots n’ Boots and wfpk.org for more announcements on our 10th Anniversary Celebration coming soon.
