Bonnaroo Wrap Up

The 1st I heard of the thing called Bonnaroo came from a friend who just returned from the 1st festival.  He seemed to be completely glowing and sun burnt to a crisp but he told me, “Bonnaroo – You gotta do it.”  That was 9 years ago, and the ‘Roo gets better & better each year.  That 1st Bonnaroo was rough; as a local radio announcer said as I was driving in, “None of the Festival's organizers knew what they were going to be hit with.” This year a massive thunderstorm struck Coffee County the day before the event, causing traffic backups getting into the festival.  Once in, reeking mud pits were sucking up vehicles right & left, and this was the reason we Media campers were let in a special back route into our camp ground.  I found out from a local person that our area “always floods.”  Flood it did with many areas closed off with plastic fences.  The mud & smell around the showers made that an unpleasant proposition; glad I brought extra bathing H20 for the occasion.  And the heat, OMG! Yet It was all worth it.  All those bands!  Right after I catch up on my sleep I want to see a bunch of great bands, but sans the mud and the camping.  That might work out perfectly!
