Down and Nerdy: Hack is Wack and The Wilderness Downtown

IN WHICH illegal computer activities are decried, and recreational computer activities bring a tear to the eye.

Briana's pick: Hack is Wack

Snoop Dogg is a very busy dood. When he’s not contributing to the lexicon, Snoop’s a rapper, actor, reality star, producer, hockey fan and now, cybercrime fighter. In conjunction with Norton Symantec, Snoop Dogg is trying to raise awareness about how “real” cybercrime is via the “Hack is Wack” rap video contest. I know, right?

All you need to do is upload your 2-minute or less anti-cybercrime rap video at www.hackiswack.com. Videos will be judged based on originality, creativity and how well rappers convey the anti-cybercrime message. At the close of the contest, a grand prize winner will receive hotel and travel accommodations to see Snoop Dogg in concert, plus a “super cool” Toshiba laptop. They even give you tips on what to rhyme about (botnet, keystroke loggers, malware, etc.). The contest started on September 1st and ends September 30th.

James' pick: The Wilderness Downtown

If you haven't seen this yet, fire up your Google Chrome browser and head over to The Wilderness Downtown, where you will be asked for the address of the house where you grew up.

This is the new interactive video made for the Arcade Fire song "We Used To Wait," and it's really powerful. For those of you who haven't experienced it yet, I won't spoil it by saying anything more.
