Paws Report

Today at 3:30 pm we welcome Bear, a one-year-old border collie mix. This smart boy just completed four weeks of training at the Kentucky Humane Society’s P.R.O.U.D. (Prisoner Rehabilitation of Untrained Dogs) program, where he lived with a handler who taught him things like sit, down, wait, even heel. Bears love to play tug, fetch and chase, but his favorite part of any day is time spent around people. Bear gets along with all sorts of people, but he would do best as an only dog in his new home.

About P.R.O.U.D.
All dogs selected for the Kentucky Humane Society’s P.R.O.U.D Program attend an intensive four-week training session and receive around-the-clock instructions from their handlers in a dormitory-style setting. Using clicker training, handlers teach the dogs that good behavior gets rewards, such as food or play time and bad behaviors are ignored or don’t give them the result they want.
