Cumo: The Paws Report, Jan. 21

On The Paws Report today at 3:30 pm:

Meet Cumo, a handsome, distinguished looking gentleman who loves everyone. If you stop to give him a pet, he will ask you for a belly rub. And how could anyone resist? With his earnest face, gentle manners and cute boxy head, Cumo has stolen the hearts of many staff and volunteers at the Kentucky Humane Society. Cumo came to KHS in September, and had a very bad case heartworms. He went through heartworm treatment with flying colors. Heartworms are not contagious, and KHS will continue to treat him until he is heartworm negative, even after he is in his new home. If you have a dog at home, we recommend a "meet and great" to make sure Cumo and his new brother or sis will get along. Cumo is neutered, micro-chipped and up-to-date on vaccinations. Meet Cumo at the Kentucky Humane Society’s Main Campus, 241 Steedly Drive, Louisville KY. View all adoptable pets at www.kyhumane.org or call 502-366-3355 for more information.

Also, today, January 21, three local animal welfare agencies – Louisville Metro Animal Services, Kentucky Humane Society, and Saving Sunny, with support from Best Friends Animal Society – launched an adoption awareness campaign called Pit Bull Dogs Are Family. KHS, LMAS and Saving Sunny are all Best Friends Network Partners and are working together to save lives.

This awareness campaign shows everyday people with their everyday dogs. Beth Andrews of Beth Andrews Fine Photography took beautiful photos of local families. The goal is to encourage more people to adopt pitties in our community.

The campaign can be seen in billboards and on 60 TARC buses.

Laura is the afternoon host from 3-6 pm weekdays. Email Laura at lshine@lpm.org
