Janelle: The Paws Report, May 6

Today at 3:30 for The Paws Report, meet sweet Janelle, a mellow ten-year-old spaniel/shepherd mix with a lot of love to offer. She came to the Kentucky Humane Society when her owner moved and was unable to take Janelle with her. Janelle misses being in a home very much and is ready to find someone who will love her forever. This laid-back lady loves to go on walks with the staff and volunteers. Give her a scratch on the back and she’s the happiest dog in the world! Janelle shared her last home with both a male and female dog, but she doesn’t care much for felines. According to her former owner, Janelle is housetrained, crate trained and does well when left unsupervised. Janelle has lived with children ranging from newborns to adults, and her prior owner says she’s been wonderful with all of them. This easy-going pooch is looking for someone to relax and spend her senior days with. Could it be you? Stop by the Kentucky Humane Society’s Main Campus at 241 Steedly Drive in Louisville and let Janelle show you what you’re missing! Janelle is spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccinations. Learn more about all our adoptable pets at www.kyhumane.org or 502-366-3355.

We will also talk about:

The “Dream Big” adoption special is all month long in May. Adoption fees for select big dogs are reduced (Janelle is part of this special). As you know, kennel space for big dogs is at a premium, and we are hoping to get some big dogs into great homes this month to help clear space for needy dogs as the summer months heat up and more big dogs will need our help.

And speaking of big dogs, we are trying to raise funds so we can offer even lower-cost spay/neuters at our SNIP Clinic to big dogs. A local couple who will match gifts dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000 for our special “Big Dog Fix” fund, but the deadline is May 9 – this Saturday. Yikes! We are at $3,101 as of this morning. As you know, big dogs have big litters – often 10-15 puppies – so spaying and neutering is particularly important.
