Shelby: The Paws Report, Sept. 2

On The Paws Report today at 3:30:

Meet Shelby, a six-year-old Border Collie mix who came to the Kentucky Humane Society with a large wound and an exposed bone in her front leg. The wound was severely infected and veterinarians determined that her limb could not be saved. After her leg was amputated, Shelby spent a month in foster care where she learned how to get along on three legs. Shelby is feeling much better now that the pain she was suffering from is gone, and she’s now ready for a loving family who will be patient with her as she continues to heal and gain strength. She’s a very sweet, smart, curious dog who cocks her head while listening, which we think is very endearing. Shelby seems to like other dogs and can play quite intensely, so she may do best with a playful dog; we recommend a meet-and-greet to make sure that Shelby’s play style is accepted by any resident dogs in her new home. Shelby appears to be house broken and has not had any accidents while in foster care. If you would like to give this wonderful dog something she has missed out on in the past – a loving home – please come meet her at the Kentucky Humane Society’s Main Campus, 241 Steedly Drive in Louisville. Shelby is spayed, micro-chipped and up-to-date on vaccinations. Learn more about Shelby and all our adoptable pets at www.kyhumane.org or by calling 502-366-3355.

KHS is looking for contestants for our 2016 Pet Calendar. Here is info:

The Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) is looking for contestants for their 2016 Pet Calendar. Proud pet parents are invited to submit a photo of their favorite animal by Friday, Sept. 13. Each $25 photo entry fee is a donation to KHS, the state’s largest pet adoption agency and no-kill animal shelter.

The KHS calendar committee will choose the top 11 photos to be a Featured Pet of the Month (printed photos are approximately 8.5x11 inches) and will select 12 Runner Ups (Runner Up photos are approx. 3x4 inches). In addition, everyone who submits a photo is guaranteed to have their pet's photo printed in the calendar collage. Plus, each entrant will be mailed a 2016 calendar in November.

Photos must be of companion animals only (no people), and KHS will not accept copyrighted professional photographs.

Pet parents can enter photos online and view contest details at www.kyhumane.org. Or they can mail copies of their photos to Pet Calendar Contest, Kentucky Humane Society, 241 Steedly Drive, Louisville KY 40214. For more information, call 502-515-3152 or email pr@kyhumane.org.
