Bella: The Paws Report, Jan. 13

Today on The Paws Report at 3:30:

Meet Bella, a goofy eight-month-old Pit Bull Terrier mix with big soulful eyes and a habitual frown. Despite her comical physical traits, Bella is a happy girl who loves long walks, playing fetch and cuddling up beside her human friends. This sweet and shy puppy arrived at the Kentucky Humane Society when a nice family found her roaming the streets. Bella was suffering from Demodectic mange, a skin issue that is not contagious to other pets or people. While the family loved Bella very much, due to size restrictions in their apartment, they decided to surrender Bella to the Kentucky Humane Society so we could treat her condition and find her a loving home where she can run and stretch her legs. According to her former family, Bella is a smart girl who loves to learn new things. At the shelter, she's already mastered sit, down, stay and will even play fetch. All in all, Bella is a sweet and active dog looking for a family she can settle down with. She has lived with other dogs as well as cats, and seems to do very well with both. Bella is spayed, micro-chipped and up-to-date on all vaccinations. Do you have room in your home and life for this adorable girl? If so, come fall in love with her today at the Kentucky Humane Society’s Main Campus, 241 Steedly Drive in Louisville. View all adoptable pets online at www.kyhumane.org or call 502-366-3355 for more information.

We have lots of dog training classes to help pets and their owners start the new year off on the right “paw.” KHS offers puppy classes, basic manners classes, a wallflowers class for shy dogs and many other classes designed to address specific behavior problems. We are also offering in-home classes while owners are away at work.

New this year, KHS offers a Therapy Dog Prep class:

Do you have a well-mannered dog with a lot of love to give? Becoming a pet therapy team is a great way to give back to the community! Therapy Dog Prep will help you ready your dog for therapy certification by proofing obedience behaviors, introducing real life distractions, and teaching new skills necessary for visits. Pre-requisites: Manners for Life or equivalent basic obedience course or recommendation from a KHS trainer. Dogs must be at least 6 months of age with no history of aggression or reactivity towards humans or other dogs.
