9-11am – NEA Heritage Fellowship Concert 2016
American Routes celebrates Thanksgiving with a sonic cornucopia from National Endowment for the Arts’ Heritage Fellows — recipients of America’s most prestigious award in folk & traditional arts. The 2016 Fellows include: Mardi Gras Indian Chief Monk Boudreaux , Irish accordionist Billy McComiskey and Mexican-American singer Artemio Posadas. You’ll also hear past recipients, Del McCoury and Wanda Jackson!
11am-Noon – The Last Waltz 40th Anniversary Special
A celebration of the 40th anniversary of the The Last Waltz concert staged on Thanksgiving 1976. Listen for classics like “Up on Cripple Creek,” “The Shape I’m In,” “The Weight” and many others interspersed with a brand new interview with Robbie Robertson.
6-8pm – World Cafe
Vintage Cafe interview from earlier this year with Andrew Bird, focused on his album, Are You Serious. And since Thanksgiving is a time when family gets together, listen for some family song pairings by Rosanne and Johnny Cash, Rufus and Loudon Wainwright and more!
8-9pm – Sound Opinions Turkey Pardon
Every year, a turkey is saved from its Thanksgiving dinner fate by a presidential pardon. In that gracious spirit, Jim and Greg give their own Turkey Pardons. They share their picks of lousy artists who still had one redeemable musical moment. Plus, they pay tribute to the great singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen.
9pm-12am – FPK’s After Dark With Meg Samples
11pm – “Thursday Night Street Party” features brass and street-beat bands from around the world that make ya wanna get up and boogie! Tonight music from Istanbul the most popular city in Turkey.
12am–1am – Night Visions
