‘Deck the Halls’ with a very special holiday themed show. Grammy Award winning composer and violin virtuoso Mark O’Connor and his band Hot Swing! play a special Christmas set. The LA Times calls him “one of the most talented and imaginative artists working in music – any music – today.”

It’s a live show from New Orleans legendary Rock N Bowl club, including soul, funk and R & B heroes Irma Thomas, Ivan Neville, James Rivers, Robert “Barefootin'” Parker, Walter “Wolfman” Washington and James Andrews all backed by pianist Jon Cleary and band.

–LITTLE STEVEN’S UNDERGROUND GARAGE NEW YEAR’S SPECIAL (7-9PM)
Little Steven sums up all the wonderful things that happened this past year; including Steven’s list of the “coolest movies and books”.  We’ll also run down the Top 20 Coolest Songs In the World 2013 and then some!

About Junk Yard Dogs
Junk Yard Dogs or JYDEEZ began in the summer of 2010 as a social club, using the smoketown staple T. Eddies as their clubhouse. They soon moved next door, started flexing their collective musical muscles and quickly began to play sweaty, booty shakin’, sexy time shows around Louisville. WFPK Winter Wednesday Dec. 18

The next WFPK Winter Wednesday will be December 18th! This free series takes place once a month and runs through February at the Clifton Center.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. WFPK and Clifton Center members will receive preferred seating. More info is available for directions and everything else you need to enjoy WFPK Winter Wednesday.

Tony Joe White (approx. 8:30 pm)

Gems like “Polk Salad Annie” and “Rainy Night in Georgia” were just the beginning, as Tony Joe White proceeded to write, record, and perform regularly through the present day, finding great success both at home and abroad. Through the years, his songs have been recorded by everyone from Tina Turner to Elvis Presley to Dusty Springfield. He joins us for Winter Wednesday to celebrate his new release, Hoodoo!

K.S. Rhoads (approx. 7:30 pm)

Whether as a string arranger, co-­songwriter, producer, or multi-­instrumentalist, k.s. Rhoads has come to be regarded as one of the most creative minds in all of Music City. For the past few years, when Rhoads wasn’t working on other artist’s projects, he’s been meticulously crafting new songs in his pursuit of a bolder, more explosive sound. His new release,The Wilderness, is a brave exploration of k.s. Rhoads’ rare and expansive musical ideas.
