The Boston Phoenix has published a pretty ambitious list-of-lists: for each of the 50 states, they're naming the best band from that state, the best solo artist and the best new band.
Kentuckians will be a bit surprised to see MMJ nowhere on the list. But apart from that, the choices are solid and forward-thinking: "All-time best band" from Kentucky is Slint, all-time best solo artist is Will Oldham, and best new band is Wax Fang.
