"This part of the Beargrass Creek Trail seems like a forgotten place within the city, in a corridor between the highway and Lexington road. Aside from the paved trail it is mostly left alone and so it is a wild seeming place, a refuge for small creatures that are pushed out of neighborhoods and plants that are let alone to grow in their natural shapes (invasive though they may be, it is more beautiful to see a un-lopped tree or vigorous blooming honeysuckle). It is the fastest escape for me in my neighborhood to give my eyes a rest from all the hard lines (power lines, telephone lines, guardrails, yellow lines) which in turn rests my mind. The creek is not very clean but you can still see ducks, herons, and turtles sunning themselves on logs. This kind of solitude allows thoughts, songs, and ideas to form."
