As the son of three-time Emmy nominated composer Jay Gruska and the grandson of five time Oscar winning composer John Williams, you could say that music is in singer-songwriter Ethan Gruska’s blood. As half of the acclaimed sibling duo the Belle Brigade, Gruska turned heads a few years ago with a glossy, highly detailed sound that earned him and his sister, Barbara, admiring comparisons to the Beach Boys and the Eagles. Now out as a solo performer, Ethan’s music takes a more mellow and sparse direction. Airy arrangements embrace a wide range of sounds and styles. Influences range from jazz to folk and ambient to alternative with inspiration coming from his love of Elliot Smith, Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake.
