John LaBarbera
John LaBarbera is a Grammy-nominated composer/arranger whose works have been recorded by some of the greatest names in jazz. His big band CDs,on the Jazz Compass label On The Wild Side and Fantazm, have gained tremendous artistic and commercial success and are on the way to becoming a jazz big band standards. As co-producer and arranger for The Glenn Miller Orchestra Christmas recordings (In The Christmas Mood I & II), John has received gold and platinum records.
His commercial scoring credits include TV and radio spots for CBS, Kodak, Xerox and the memorable “Plop Plop Fizz Fizz” campaign with Sammy Davis Jr. John has contributed work as an orchestrator for Broadway shows, with A Chorus Line being the most notable.
John is an active clinician and lecturer, a two time recipient of The NEA award for Jazz Composition and his published works are considered standards in the field of jazz education.
