Mark Murdock knew he wanted to be on the radio since he discovered how to turn one on. His hometown of Lewisburg, TN isn’t exactly the hotbed of music, but growing up, he could listen to the Grand Ole Opry on the legendary WSM.

When his older sister left for college, she left 8-Tracks like Aerosmith “Rocks” and Fleetwood Mac’s “Rumors” that were a big departure from listening to his dad’s Statler Brothers and Oak Ridge Boys records.

He got his first job on the radio spinning 45s at the age of 14. While in Knoxville, he was one of those record store guys and ran a record label out of his apartment.

He was Program Director of the award winning WUTK-FM in Knoxville before spending some time at Nashville’s AAA flagship Lighting 100.

Since then, he’s worked in radio in Denver and here in Louisville.

He literally moved from Louisville, CO to Louisville, KY in 2004.

He prefers the Telecaster/Marshall combo to Strat/Fender combo.

You can hear Mark Saturdays from 9a-noon on WFPK.
